Solvents and glycols
Orthoxylene
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Xylene or xylene (C6H4 (CH3)) is a mixture of three isomers – ortho (o), meta (m) and para (p). Xylene is a clear, colorless, sweet-smelling, highly flammable liquid with a flash point of 23°C to 61°C.
USE CASES
Xylene is quite widely used as a solvent for varnishes, various paints or mastics for the synthesis of dyes. To dilute thick paints, different types of solvents are used, differing in composition and characteristics. Various varnishes are also diluted. Most often, multicomponent solvents are suitable. But it is better to use a suitable solvent, which is actually xylene.
Xylene is used as a solvent in the printing, rubber and leather industries. Xylene is also used as a cleaning agent for steel, for silicon wafers and microcircuits. Petroleum xylene is a component of many number solvents, and is also used to obtain xylene isomers. It is used for dilution and production of many paints and varnishes and mastics. Xylene is used as a thinner for oil-based paints, paints, varnishes, epoxy resin, adhesives, and synthetic enamels. It is also a universal agent for dissolving resins and plastics. In industry, it is used in the production processes of organosilicon polymers. It is used in the synthesis of dyes. Petroleum xylene is added in small quantities to jet fuel and gasoline. Another field of application of xylene can be called the production of linoleum and various mastics.
